Flood Risk Assessment and Mitigation Measures for the Right Bank of the Indus River

Commissioned by AdaptX Hub at the Asian Institute of Technology and funded by the World Bank, this assignment tasks Blue Green Nexus with assessing flood risk along the right bank of the Indus River and developing a proposal of mitigation measures for the exposed communities and infrastructure along that reach. The work involves characterizing the hydrological and hydraulic behavior of the river at this location, identifying the physical and socioeconomic assets most exposed to flood hazard, and evaluating the range of structural and nonstructural interventions available to reduce that exposure.

Blue Green Nexus is applying its combined strength in hydraulic modeling, GIS based spatial analysis, and disaster risk reduction planning to this assignment, ensuring that proposed mitigation measures are grounded in a rigorous understanding of river behavior rather than generic engineering solutions. The project’s institutional setting, a World Bank funded assignment channeled through a regional academic and research partner, places Blue Green Nexus among a small group of Pakistani firms engaged in internationally financed flood risk work on the Indus, and reinforces the company’s growing reputation for technically credible, bankable flood risk assessments along one of the world’s most consequential river systems.
